Top of the World

This piece, "On Top of the World", is extremely well done, but has some flaws.

To start off (which other critics have already mentioned), is the lighting. For the most part it is done correctly, but I feel that there is something off. For example, if the lighting is coming from the left side of the piece, shouldn't the arm of the girl on the right side have more shadow on it? Also the perspective of the shadow of the gun is off. It not only should be closer to the gun itself, but follow the same angle of the wall shadow. The way it is now makes it look like there is multiple light sources, creating a slight unbalance to the overall piece.

Another little thing that the artist may or may not of done on purpose, but bugs me is the last bar of color in the sky. I think he was going for a ground, but to me it looks to blurry to be a hard substance.

THAT ASIDE, I still love this piece. I am impressed with the wonderful texture usage as well the color palette. The soft, colorful sky creates a beautiful contrast to the harsh, battle worn building and solders.
